Iran Strikes Back at Israel Amid Rising Tension

On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a major attack on Iran, targeting nuclear and military sites, including the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, killing senior Iranian military officials like Mohammad Bagheri and IRGC commander Hossein Salami. Iran retaliated on June 14, launching hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel, with explosions reported in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Iranian strikes hit at least seven sites around Tel Aviv, injuring 22 people. Iran claimed its missiles struck Israeli military-industrial centers, while Israel intercepted most projectiles.

The escalation follows stalled U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, with President Trump warning Iran of harsher Israeli attacks if no deal is reached. Global oil prices surged 7-8%, with Brent at $74.60/barrel, impacting markets. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vowed “severe punishment,” while Israel’s PM Netanyahu called the strikes a counter to Iran’s nuclear threat. The U.S. denied involvement, urging restraint, as regional allies like Egypt and Turkey condemned Israel’s actions. The conflict risks broader regional instability, with Iran’s weakened military limiting its response options .
